Western Sydney University Research Scholarships

Western Sydney University is advertising PhD scholarships for research aligned with the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development and the research interests of Joyce Siette (Deputy Director, Associate Professor, Leader of the Brain Health Hub).

The opportunity is aimed at students interested in brain health, gerontology, medical sciences, and related areas such as neuroscience, psychology, and public health. Funding information from the university scholarship page indicates a living stipend of AUD 35,188 per year for three years plus a tuition fee offset / RTP tuition coverage. The scholarship is competitive and may be awarded for full-time study; part-time awards may be possible but are taxable. Travel, visa, relocation, and other expenses are excluded.

Eligibility highlights: domestic students (Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens) are eligible, and international applicants may also apply if they meet the additional conditions listed on the scholarship page. Applicants must be able to commence a doctoral program in Q3 2026, be onshore in Australia at commencement, and provide a letter of support from a suitable supervisor. International applicants must have completed an MPhil or MRes at Western Sydney University in 2025 or 2026.

Application window: applications open 2026-04-01 and close 2026-04-30 at 5:00 pm AEST. New applicants apply online via the university application portal and select the Q3 2026 Scholarship Release. Existing doctoral candidates who commenced in 2026 should notify the Director HDR in their School/Institute and follow the additional documentation instructions.
