About this position
Applications are invited for a three-year PhD studentship at the University of Nottingham, based at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology. This industry-linked project focuses on the design and simulation of stiffness-adjustable robotic systems for in-situ/on-wing repair and maintenance of aero-engines and gas turbine engines.

Eligibility: applications are primarily open to UK candidates, although outstanding international candidates with exceptional suitability may also be considered. Applicants should normally hold a first or upper second class degree in mechanical/mechatronics/robotics/cybernetics or a related discipline, together with strong analytical, numerical, and technical skills. Experience with tools such as CREO, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, ABAQUS, and MATLAB is desirable.
