About this position
PhD Studentship at the University of Chester in Public Health, Education, Psychology, Sociology, and Medical Science.
This is a fully funded 3-year PhD studentship hosted by the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at University of Chester, working with David Lewis and six other national providers. The project is focused on developing a quality and outcomes framework for not-for-profit campus adult social care and education providers.
The research will explore themes such as safeguarding, least restrictive care, clinical and therapeutic input, community engagement, wellbeing, and the role of green/open spaces and biophilia in service delivery. The project is based in a real-world social care and education setting and is relevant to applicants interested in applied research, service evaluation, and outcomes frameworks.
Funding: stipend and fees are covered. The first-year stipend is £21,549, with annual inflationary increases. UK fees are covered for up to 3 years full-time; fees above the UK rate are normally paid by the student.
Eligibility: applicants should normally have, or expect to obtain, at least an upper second class honours degree in a relevant discipline. International students requiring a visa are not eligible due to visa and funding deadline restrictions.
Deadline: Sunday, 26 July 2026 at 11:59 PM. Start date: 1 September 2026.
How to apply: submit the University of Chester Postgraduate Research Degree application form online, quote reference number CMS26-02, and include contact details for two referees. Applicants are encouraged to contact Professor Paul Kingston at [email protected] before applying.
