About this position

Karolinska Institutet is advertising a postdoctoral scholarship in renal epidemiology within the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC), Division of Renal Medicine, in Sweden (location: Flemingsberg).

The project focuses on kidney disease, renal epidemiology, epidemiology-biostatistics, and clinical nephrology. The successful candidate will work on vascular access in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease using real-world data from the Swedish Renal Registry. The role includes developing study protocols and statistical analysis plans, conducting observational studies, managing data, performing advanced statistical analyses with the target trial emulation framework, presenting findings at international conferences, and writing scientific articles.

This is a scholarship rather than a salaried job. The amount is tax-free and is awarded for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six-month basis; in exceptional cases, shorter periods may be accepted. The scholarship may be granted for up to two years within a four-year period after the doctorate.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in epidemiology-biostatistics, documented expertise in renal epidemiology using large healthcare registries and complex observational datasets, experience with causal inference and/or advanced statistical methods using nationwide registry data, proficiency in R, and experience teaching epidemiology-biostatistics and supervising students. Strong English scientific writing and good organizational and communication skills are also emphasized.

Applications must be submitted via the Varbi recruitment system by 2026-08-28. Required documents include a complete CV, a full publication list, and a one-page summary of current work.
