About this position
SWEAH (Swedish National Graduate School on Ageing and Health), coordinated by Lund University, is sharing two postdoctoral scholarship opportunities at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.
The openings are in the broad area of aging, health, cognition, and dementia research, with strong links to epidemiology, neuroscience, biostatistics, social health, proteomics, neuroimaging, and multi-omics analysis.
1) Postdoctoral researcher in sex-differences in social health, cognition and resilience
This project is based in Assistant Professor Anna Marseglia’s team within the Westman neuroimaging group. The work focuses on sex differences in social health trajectories, cognitive functioning, and resilience in later life, using longitudinal and multimodal datasets such as UK Biobank and Swedish aging cohorts (Betula, SNAC-K, H70-1944). The role involves advanced statistical modeling, data management, study design, interpretation, and publication.
2) Postdoctoral studies in molecular signature of vascular cognitive impairment and dementia
This project also sits in Anna Marseglia’s team and focuses on vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID), proteomics, molecular signatures, and multi-omics integration. The successful candidate will analyze proteomic data, apply machine learning and longitudinal methods, and work with datasets including Gothenburg H70 Birth Cohort studies and UK Biobank.
Both positions are full-time postdoctoral scholarship appointments at Karolinska Institutet. The scholarship is tax free and initially awarded for 12 months, with a strong possibility of extension for another year if criteria are met. Applicants must be foreign researchers coming to Sweden for postdoctoral education; people resident in Sweden or who have studied at KI or another Swedish institution are not eligible.
Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD or equivalent before the start date; strong English; ability to work independently and collaboratively; and field-specific expertise depending on the project. For the social health project, experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, psychology, neuroscience, sociology, longitudinal modeling, and R is emphasized. For the proteomics project, experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, data science, proteomics, machine learning, and longitudinal analysis is emphasized.
Application window: applications are evaluated in July, shortlisted candidates are interviewed in August, and the expected start date is fall 2026. The last application date is 2026-07-08.
How to apply: submit a complete CV, publication list, and a one-page summary of current work through the Varbi recruitment system.
