About this position

FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) is advertising four postdoctoral scholarships in Physical Chemistry of Materials for the project Materials Applied in the Transformation of Biomass into Green Diesel: From Laboratory to Pilot. The work is based at the Araraquara Chemistry Institute, São Paulo State University (IQAr-Unesp) in Araraquara, Brazil, with a start date in September 2026.

The positions cover complementary research themes: pilot plant operation and technology scaling, catalysis for hydroprocessing and renewable fuel production, biomass, biorefineries and process integration, and porous materials and advanced catalyst engineering. The project is strongly oriented toward biomass conversion, green diesel, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), heterogeneous catalysis, nanostructured materials, and pilot-scale reactor technologies.

Eligibility depends on the specific postdoctoral position. Required backgrounds include PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Energy Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Bioenergy, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Engineering, or Nanotechnology (or closely related fields). Preferred experience includes high-pressure reactors, pilot plants, automation, instrumentation, heterogeneous catalysis, physicochemical characterization, biomass processing, biofuels, biorefinery technologies, and synthesis/characterization of porous or nanostructured materials.

The scholarship amount is R$ 12,570.00. Applicants should prepare a letter of intent (up to 2 pages), a research proposal (up to 5 pages), a CV in FAPESP standards and current Lattes CV, proof of residence in Araraquara or commitment to relocate, proof of relevant research experience, degree certificates, and DOI information for relevant publications.

The application deadline is 2026-08-06. To apply, read the linked posting document and email the materials to [email protected].
