About this position
The SCHADOC COFUND doctoral program at Aix-Marseille University (amU), in partnership with CNRS, offers an exceptional opportunity for early-stage researchers to pursue interdisciplinary PhD studies in France. Supported by the Horizon Europe Marie Curie COFUND initiative, SCHADOC will recruit 40 fellows over two calls (20 in 2025 and 20 in 2026), each for a 36-month fully funded doctoral fellowship.
The program is structured around four thematic axes: Societies and Culture, Climate Change and Environmental Challenges, Health and Well-being, and Artificial Intelligence and its Applications. Candidates can apply to a wide range of thesis projects proposed by principal investigators (PIs) across these domains, fostering interdisciplinary and international research collaboration.
Fellows will receive a competitive monthly gross salary of 3,224€ (net approx. 2,123€), with an additional net family allowance of 379€ if applicable. Each researcher is also granted a 23,400€ research, mobility, and training allowance to support their scientific development and international exposure. The program is committed to equal opportunity and actively encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds, ensuring a diverse and inclusive research environment.
Eligibility criteria include holding a Master's degree or equivalent that qualifies for doctoral studies in France, having less than four years of full-time research experience post-degree, and not having resided or carried out the main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the application deadline. English proficiency at the B1 level (intermediate/independent user) is required. Applicants must not already possess a doctorate or be enrolled in another doctoral program.
The application window opens on April 13th, 2026, and closes on May 10th, 2026, at 12:00 (Europe/Paris). All application materials, guides, and templates are available on the SCHADOC website. Interested candidates should review the available thesis projects, prepare their documents according to the provided guidelines, and submit their applications via the online portal before the deadline.
For further information, visit the SCHADOC call page or contact the program at [email protected]. This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant research community at one of France's leading universities, supported by the prestigious Marie Curie COFUND program.
