About this position
EUROPE: 15 funded PhD positions are available in the MSCA Doctoral Network DECODES (Deciphering the Splicing Code in Human Disease), coordinated by the University of Santiago de Compostela.
The project focuses on alternative splicing, RNA biology, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, structural biology, cell biology, and translational research on human disease. DECODES brings together leading European groups to study how splicing dysregulation contributes to cancer, neurodegeneration, metabolic syndromes, and rare genetic disorders, and to develop precision splicing-targeted therapies.
The network offers advanced doctoral training in computational genomics, structural biology, disease modelling, RNA biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacological screening, with structured coursework and industrial secondments. The 15 doctoral candidates will be hosted across multiple European institutions, including the University of Santiago de Compostela, University of Southampton, University of Basel, Pompeu Fabra University, GIMM, ETH Zurich, Helmholtz Zentrum München, IMol Polish Academy of Sciences, Centre for Genomic Regulation, University of Southern Denmark, Leiden University Medical Center, and AstraZeneca.
Funding is provided under the 2025 MSCA Doctoral Networks programme. The package includes a Living Allowance of 4,010€/month, Mobility Allowance of 710€/month, and Family Allowance of 660€/month if applicable, plus a Special Needs Allowance if applicable. Contracts are for 36 months and amounts are gross, subject to country correction coefficients and host-institution employment costs.
Eligibility: applicants must be doctoral candidates, must not already hold a PhD, and must satisfy the MSCA mobility rule. Candidates of any nationality may apply, but they must not have lived or worked in the recruiting country for more than 12 months in the 3 years before recruitment. A B2 English certificate is required (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge, or equivalent), and applicants must be willing to relocate for international secondments.

Candidates must be willing and able to relocate internationally for secondments within the network.
