About this position

University of Wisconsin-Madison is hiring an Assistant Professor of Political Science with a research focus in American Political Thought and/or American Constitutionalism.

The Department of Political Science is especially interested in scholars of the American founding period who can demonstrate the enduring value and significance of founding-era political and constitutional thought. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in areas such as Political Theory, American Political Thought, the History of Western Political Thought, and/or Constitutional Law.

This is a full-time, regular, renewable faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The compensation is negotiable and based on a 9-month appointment. The post emphasizes excellent scholarship, student-centered teaching, mentoring, and contribution to an inclusive academic environment.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a PhD in Political Science or a similar field by the start of appointment, along with an impressive publication record or a productive research program with strong publishing potential. Applicants should also show evidence of teaching excellence or clear potential to teach effectively in the listed areas.
