About this position

Postdoctoral Assistant Professor position at the University of Warsaw in the Faculty of Biology, Institute of Developmental Biology and Biomedical Sciences.

The project focuses on the role of the mechanosensitive ion channel PIEZO1 in the pre- and peri-implantation development of mouse embryos. The research is led by Agnieszka Walewska, PhD, and is funded by the National Science Centre Poland. The work is designed to uncover how mechanical forces in the embryo and uterus may influence cell division, blastocyst expansion, differentiation, and implantation success through mechanobiological signaling.

The position is a full-time temporary postdoc appointment starting on 1 January 2027 for 18 months, with a possible extension for another 18 months. The salary is stated at around PLN 10,500 gross per month, plus additional annual remuneration and a service allowance.

Applicants should hold a PhD in biological sciences or a related field (or be close to completion before employment starts), meet the legal eligibility requirements, and show a publication record in peer-reviewed journals, international experience, and a research plan for personal development. Strong candidates will have experience with mammalian embryos and gametes, embryo culture, in vitro fertilization, micromanipulation, or solid training in cell biology and molecular biology methods such as immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, RT-qPCR, and Western blot.

English proficiency is required, along with strong teamwork, independence, organization, and attention to detail. The post is based in Warsaw, Poland, at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Biology.

Application deadline: 31 October 2026, 23:59 (Europe/Warsaw). Apply by email to the supervisor and the Faculty Dean’s Office, and include the required questionnaire and motivation letter.
