Doctoral Researcher (Computational Physics) Tampere University in Finland

Tampere University is advertising a fully funded doctoral researcher position in Computational Physics within the Many-Body Theory group. The project focuses on the computational study of quantum nuclear effects in solids, with particular emphasis on how these effects influence the electronic structure and other properties of realistic solid-state systems.

The research environment combines strong theoretical expertise with access to high-quality infrastructure, including supercomputer resources provided by CSC – IT Center for Science. The selected doctoral researcher will contribute to the development of an in-house program package and run advanced computations on solid-state materials, making this a strong opportunity for candidates interested in method development, many-body theory, and high-performance scientific computing.

The position is part of the Theory Program of the Helsinki Institute of Physics and is described as well funded. It is offered for three years, with a preferred start in fall 2026 and some flexibility in the starting date. A typical starting salary is around 3000 EUR/month. Excellent written and spoken English are required. The group also values teamwork and a willingness to contribute to teaching and bachelor supervision.
