About this position

Université PSL in Paris is launching the first call for applications for the PRISM (PhD Research Programme for International Training in Sustainable Soft Matter) doctoral programme.

This is a fully funded PhD opportunity starting on 1 March 2027, with 3 years of funding and a competitive salary above the national average for PhD candidates in France. The programme is co-funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND and partner institutions.

Research themes span sustainable soft matter, chemistry, physics, biology, microfluidics, and materials science, with projects aimed at ecological transition challenges such as eco-friendly chemical processes, circular economy, renewable energies, and carbon capture, storage, and valorisation.

PRISM offers structured supervision, interdisciplinary and international training, mobility opportunities, secondments, and courses in sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, career development, and transferable skills.

Eligibility highlights include a Master’s degree or equivalent/postgraduate degree that formally qualifies you to start a doctorate, C1 English proficiency for applicants from non-English-speaking countries, no French language requirement, and compliance with the mobility rule (not having lived or carried out your main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years before the deadline).

Applications must be submitted via the PRISM website between 1 September and 31 October 2026 (23:59 Paris time). Applicants should prepare a degree certificate, marks from the previous three years, English translations where needed, two reference letters, a signed mobility statement, a ranked list of up to five open PhD subjects, a CV, and a cover letter.
