About this position
Fully funded PhD positions are available at the Energy Material Conversion and Combustion (EMC²) Laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The lab works on combustion, advanced optical diagnostics, sustainable energy, critical material recycling, solid fuels, energy-dense materials, and sustainable recycling technologies for next-generation energy systems. Research combines advanced experiments, optical diagnostics, and computational modeling.
Applicants should have an MSc or an outstanding BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field. The post welcomes students who are passionate about combustion, reactive materials, energy conversion, or optical diagnostics and who are motivated to pursue cutting-edge research.
Two PhD positions are offered for Spring/Fall 2027. Funding includes tuition, stipend, and conference support. International applicants are welcome.
