About this position
Funded PhD position in Molecular Microbiology at CNRS / Université Lyon 1 in Lyon, France.
The SAB Team at MMSB is recruiting a PhD candidate to study how bacteria switch between growing and non-growing states, with a focus on pathogenesis, stress survival, and the CtrA pathway. The project uses Caulobacter crescentus as a model system and will involve characterization of candidate genes identified in Tn-seq screens.
Research methods include CRISPRi, mutant construction, Western blots, protein interaction assays, microscopy, and flow cytometry. The goal is to build a mechanistic model of how these genes control growth transitions through CtrA or parallel routes.
The position starts in January–February 2027 and is funded for 36 months under ANR JCJC ADAPT.
Applicants should be curious, team-minded, and have hands-on experience in bacterial genetics, with a strong interest in molecular microbiology and signal transduction.
To apply, send a CV and motivation letter to [email protected], including your scientific interests, fit for the project, and contact details for at least one reference.
