About this position
Funded research openings are available at Concordia University in collaboration with Maya HTT for a project on integrated thermal reduced-order modeling and model-based safety assessment for early-stage aerospace and space system design.
The opportunity includes one postdoctoral fellow, one PhD student, and MASc students. The research combines thermal simulation, reliability engineering, digital engineering, systems engineering, and safety-critical aerospace analysis. A key application area is an industrial space propulsion case study involving a Liquid Injection Thrust Vector Control system.
The postdoc will lead development and validation of thermal reduced-order models and their integration into industrial digital engineering workflows. The PhD project focuses on thermally aware model-based safety assessment, including degradation modeling, AltaRica 3.0 safety modeling, and coupling physics-based and safety assessment models. MASc students will contribute to system modeling, validation, simulation studies, and case studies applying the framework to aerospace and space systems.
Applicants should have a strong background in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, reliability engineering, or a related field. Strong analytical and programming skills are required. Experience in simulation, safety assessment, model-based engineering, thermal modeling, reduced-order modeling, multiphysics simulation, or numerical methods is an advantage for the postdoctoral role. Preference is given to applicants eligible for Canadian funding schemes, and candidates from underrepresented groups and nonstandard academic pathways are encouraged to apply.
The positions are funded with a competitive bursary, and excellent candidates may receive additional awards. International tuition fees may be waived in some cases.
