About this position

Applications are open for the International Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHEP-CAS) in China.

This is a postdoctoral opening for outstanding early-career researchers from around the world (excluding Chinese citizens). Fellows may choose their own research topic and host supervisor at IHEP.

Research areas include particle physics, accelerator science and technology, astrophysics, synchrotron radiation, neutron science and instrumentation, materials science and condensed matter physics, scientific computing, software systems, AI-driven data analysis, and quantum computing. The fellowship is open to both experimental and theoretical researchers.

Location: Beijing by default, with Dongguan available for neutron science tracks.

Funding and benefits: annual salary of ¥500,000 RMB, annual research fund of ¥100,000 RMB, on-campus housing or a housing subsidy, comprehensive health insurance, visa support for the fellow and accompanying family members, and support for international conferences and future career development.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD in physics, astronomy, chemistry, or a related field, or be close to completion and receive the degree by the start date. Strong research potential, high-quality publications, and collaborative ability are expected.

Application: submit a CV, up to 10 relevant publications, a 3-page research statement, and at least 3 recommendation letters by email. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
