About this position

Applications are open for the International Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHEP CAS) in China.

This is a postdoctoral opening for outstanding early-career researchers from around the world (excluding Chinese citizens). Fellows may choose their own research topic and host supervisor at IHEP.

Research areas include particle physics, accelerator science and technology, astrophysics, synchrotron radiation, neutron science, materials science, scientific computing, AI-driven data analysis, and quantum computing. The program also covers related areas such as detector and instrumentation R&D, theoretical particle physics and cosmology, beamline science, controls, and software systems.

Funding and benefits: annual salary of ¥500,000 RMB, annual research fund of ¥100,000 RMB, on-campus apartment or ¥30,000 RMB housing subsidy, comprehensive health insurance, and visa support for the fellow and family members. The fellowship lasts 2 years and may be extended for 1–2 years based on performance.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in physics, astronomy, chemistry, or a related field, or be close to completion and receive the degree by the start date. Strong research potential, a record of high-quality publications, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams are expected.

Application: submit a CV, up to 10 publications, a research statement (max 3 pages), and at least 3 recommendation letters by email to [email protected]. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Location: Beijing by default, with Dongguan for neutron science tracks.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
