About this position
Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at the University of Warwick, School of Engineering, within the MSCA Doctoral Network POSEIDON.
This PhD-level research position is part of an international European training network focused on developing the next generation of eco-friendly offshore wind farms. The successful researcher will contribute to high-quality, innovative work on sustainable offshore wind development, with particular attention to the design, performance, and environmental interaction of offshore wind infrastructure.
The role has a strong emphasis on data science and machine learning programming applied to large environmental datasets, including geospatial, weather, and tide data. The project also involves collaboration with academic and industrial partners across the EU, international secondments, and dedicated training activities through the POSEIDON network. This makes it a strong opportunity for an early-career researcher seeking international exposure and a broad interdisciplinary research environment.
Applicants should have an MSc or equivalent in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Ocean/Offshore Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline. Required skills include strong numerical and computational ability, and proficiency in at least one of Python, MATLAB, or C++. Previous experience with computational mechanics and laboratory/physical tests for soil characterisation is also expected. Candidates must meet Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher eligibility criteria, including no prior PhD, being in the first four years of research experience, and having spent no more than 12 months in the UK in the previous 3 years.
Funding: £39,600 per annum (Marie Curie rate, with allowances and pension enrolments included in the advertised salary range).
Deadline: 1 November 2026.
Applicants are registered for a PhD degree at the University of Warwick and should apply via the university jobs portal.
