About this position

M.S. / Ph.D. opportunity in Rocky Intertidal Ecology and Coastal Benthic Ecology at Louisiana State University (LSU New Orleans), in collaboration with the University of Hawaiʻi and the College of Charleston.

The project will examine the resilience of Hawaiian rocky intertidal communities following unprecedented Kona Low flooding. Research topics include marine ecology, coastal ecology, rocky intertidal ecology, benthic community surveys, species abundance, coverage, density, community resistance and recovery, and the use of long-term and historical ecological datasets.

The position is based at LSU New Orleans, with approximately 9 months of fieldwork in Hawaiʻi. The opportunity is open at the M.S. or Ph.D. level and is planned to start in Spring 2027.

Funding is supported by an NSF RAPID grant for one year, with additional support potentially available through teaching assistantships or outside funding.
