About this position

RIKEN’s Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science is recruiting a Researcher / Senior Researcher / Engineer / Senior Engineer for the Accelerator Fundamental Research Department in Wako, Saitama, Japan.

The position is centered on accelerator physics, cryogenic technology, beam diagnostics, and related electrical/control systems. The successful candidate will join one of two teams: (A) development and maintenance of the SRC helium cooling system for the superconducting ring cyclotron, including long-term stable operation, fault detection, and machine-learning-based integrity evaluation; or (B) development and maintenance of beam monitors and diagnostic instruments for high-intensity beams, including Faraday cups, profile monitors, non-destructive diagnostics, high-speed electrical systems, automatic data acquisition, and analysis tools.

This is a permanent, non-tenure-track position. The posting states an annual salary starting at about 7 million yen, with discretionary work allowance, commuting allowance, housing allowance, and social insurance. The role is based at RIKEN Wako Campus and requires on-site work.

Eligibility: a doctoral degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. Prior accelerator R&D achievements are not strictly required. The post is suitable for candidates with backgrounds in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or computer science with interest in accelerator systems.
