A relevant Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent is required, including a major independent project of at least 30 ECTS equivalent to a master’s thesis. Master students may apply if the degree is completed and documented before starting the position and no later than 2027-01-01. Applicants must have an average grade of B or better according to NTNU’s grading scale, or an equally strong academic foundation if grades are not available; weaker backgrounds may be considered with exceptional suitability evidenced by relevant work experience and/or peer-reviewed work. A professionally relevant background in Computer Science is required, along with excellent programming skills, preferably in Java, C++, or C, and a research-oriented Master’s thesis in databases, information retrieval, data mining, or algorithms. Excellent written and oral English is required, and good Norwegian/Scandinavian oral and written skills are preferred or expected to be acquired during the doctorate.
