The project focuses on the influence of subduction history on mantle density anomalies and flow, true polar wander (TPW), and core-mantle boundary (CMB) heat flux. The successful candidate will work on geodynamic research, scientific programming, data visualisation, and collaboration with other projects in the Priority Programme.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in geosciences, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related natural science; strong programming skills (preferably Python, Fortran, or C++); experience with geodynamic modelling software such as ASPECT, StagYY, or GAIA; high-performance computing experience, preferably on Linux; excellent communication skills; and fluency in English. Desirable experience includes data visualisation, scientific programming, and knowledge of deep Earth or planetary interiors.

Funding and conditions: fixed-term appointment for 36 months, salary group 13 under TVöD Bund, part-time at 75% (29.25 h/week). The post is based in Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany, at the Albert Einstein Science Park on the Telegrafenberg.
