About this position
PhD opening at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Multispectral Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE), based in Gjøvik, Norway, within the Department of Computer Science and the Colourlab research group.
The project is part of the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network CAPTURE, which focuses on advancing wireless capsule endoscopy through computer vision, artificial intelligence, and medical imaging. The research aims to identify optimal spectral bands for pathology detection and classification, improve visualization and diagnosis, and experimentally verify multispectral approaches using an emulated capsule and advanced hyperspectral equipment.
This is a 36-month, full-time PhD Candidate position with an expected start date of 1 August 2027. The salary is normally NOK 580,000 per year (depending on qualifications and seniority) and includes MSCA living and mobility allowances; a family allowance may also be available under MSCA rules. The position is conditional on external funding.
Eligibility highlights include a relevant master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, imaging science, or equivalent; strong experience in imaging/image processing; very good programming skills; and excellent English communication skills. Applicants must not already hold a PhD and must satisfy NTNU’s doctoral admission requirements. The MSCA mobility rule applies, meaning the candidate must not have lived or carried out their main activity in Norway for more than 12 months in the 36 months before recruitment.
Application materials include transcripts and diplomas, CV, master’s thesis (or draft if recently submitted), a project outline, motivation letter, publications if any, certificates if any, and contact details for at least two referees.
