About this position
NTNU’s Department of Computer Science is advertising a PhD Candidate in Colour and Image Enhancement for Wireless Capsule Endoscopy in the CAPTURE Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network.
The project sits at the intersection of computer science, medical imaging, colour science, image processing, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. The PhD work aims to improve the diagnostic quality and reliability of wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) images and video through colour correction, contrast enhancement, perceptual evaluation, and consistent visualisation. The research also includes psychometric and statistical validation, colour calibration, and display pipelines for accurate viewing across conditions.
The successful candidate will join Colourlab at NTNU and participate in an international, interdisciplinary doctoral network with academic, healthcare, and industry partners across Europe. The project includes workshops, conferences, transferable-skills training, and research secondments, including stays at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Granada.
This is a full-time, fixed-term 36-month PhD position. The expected start date is 1 August 2027. The salary is normally NOK 580,000 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority, and it covers the MSCA living and mobility allowances; a family allowance may also be available under MSCA rules.
Eligibility highlights: applicants need a relevant master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, imaging science, or equivalent; a major independent project equivalent to a master’s thesis; strong academic results (B or better on NTNU’s scale or equivalent); very good programming skills; and excellent English. Applicants must not already hold a PhD and must satisfy the MSCA mobility rule.
Application deadline: 19 November 2026. Apply through Jobbnorge and include transcripts and diplomas, CV, thesis copy or draft, a project outline, motivation letter, relevant publications/certificates, and contact details for at least two referees.
