About this position

NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) is advertising a PhD Candidate in Nanophotonics for Health Monitoring in the Department of Electronic Systems in Trondheim, Norway.

The project focuses on wearable metasurfaces, photonic crystals, optical characterization, nanofabrication, and in vivo health monitoring. The successful candidate will study the interaction of light with photonic devices and explore non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring using nanophotonics, in collaboration with partners at St. Olavs, the Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging, and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

This is a doctoral opening for candidates with a relevant background in experimental photonics, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, sensing, physical chemistry, or nanotechnology. Applicants need a completed or soon-to-be-completed master's degree, strong academic results, and eligibility for admission to NTNU’s PhD programme in Electronics and Telecommunication. Preferred experience includes spectroscopies, optical characterization of nanomaterials, nanofabrication, cleanroom work, and wearable sensors.

The position is full-time and temporary. Salary is normally NOK 550,800 per year, and the appointment lasts 4 years with 25% career-promoting work in NTNU NanoLab Cleanroom. If Norwegian language training is completed, the employment period may be extended by 10 weeks.
