About this position
PhD fellowship in dopamine addiction biology at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences).
The project investigates alterations in the molecular architecture of dopaminergic release sites after exposure to psychostimulants and opioids in a rodent self-administration paradigm. The work combines super-resolution microscopy, proteomics, and related approaches to map nanoarchitectural organization and identify pathways perturbed by each drug.
The research group focuses on dopamine biology and diseases linked to dysfunctional dopamine homeostasis, including parkinsonism, ADHD, and substance use disorder. The group uses techniques ranging from classical pharmacology to advanced imaging, mouse behavior, chemogenetics, and optogenetics.
Supervisor: Professor Ulrik Gether (Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen).
Eligibility highlights: master’s degree in molecular biomedicine, biology, biomedicine, medicine, human biology, neuroscience, or equivalent; experience with mice, immunocytochemistry/immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, tissue/brain clearing (iDISCO), and strong communication skills are preferred.
