About this position
PhD opportunity in cancer biology at Université de Caen Normandie and Inserm U1086 ANTICIPE, hosted at the François Baclesse Comprehensive Cancer Center in Caen, France.
The project focuses on the therapeutic potential of targeting UBE2N and its interplay with antitumor immunity in ovarian cancer. The research is designed to identify new therapeutic strategies by combining cancer and molecular biology, pharmacology, immuno-oncology, and patient-derived tumor organoid (PDTO) models.
The successful PhD student will work in a multidisciplinary translational environment with access to the ORGAPRED tumor organoid core facility and expertise in DNA repair, pharmacology, precision oncology, and tumor immunology. The position is offered for 36 months, with an expected start in January–February 2027.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent recognized in France/the EU, ideally in cancer biology, molecular/cellular biology, pharmacology, immunology, or a related field. A solid background in cancer biology, DNA repair, anticancer pharmacology, and mammalian cell culture is expected. Experience with functional assays, patient-derived tumor organoids, and immuno-oncology is considered an advantage. Good scientific English and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team are important.
Application process: prepare a CV, academic transcripts, one reference letter or referee contact details, and a short motivation statement for joining the U-STING project. Submit the application by email to both supervisors. Deadline: 3 November 2026, 23:59 UTC.
This is a research-intensive PhD position in a strong clinical-translational cancer setting in Normandy, with opportunities to present at conferences and contribute to publications.

What's required
Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent qualification recognized in France/the EU and allowing enrolment in a doctoral programme in France, preferably in cancer biology, molecular or cellular biology, pharmacology, immunology or a related discipline. A solid background in cancer biology and/or molecular and cellular biology is required, along with knowledge of DNA repair, anticancer pharmacology and/or therapeutic combinations, experience in mammalian cell culture, and good scientific English (written and spoken). Experience with functional assays, patient-derived tumor organoids, immuno-oncology, tumor–immune interactions or antitumor immune signaling is an advantage. Previous animal experimentation is not mandatory but would be an asset. The candidate should be able to work independently within a multidisciplinary team and be motivated to develop new experimental skills, project design, data analysis and scientific communication skills.
How to apply
Prepare a CV, master’s transcripts/academic records, and one reference letter or referee contact details.
