About this position

PhD opening in Computational Systems Biology / Bioinformatics at the CBI - Centre for Integrative Biology of Toulouse in France, within the MSCA PANDORA doctoral network.

The project is titled “Development of a multi-scale predictive digital twin of the retina affected by age-related macular degeneration (AMD)”. The doctoral researcher will work on systems-level modeling of retinal mechanisms linked to AMD and the complement system, building large-scale molecular interaction maps, converting them into executable Boolean models, adapting them with omics data, and integrating them into an agent-based multi-scale model (ABM) to simulate intercellular communication and tissue homeostasis.

This opportunity is especially relevant for students interested in computational biology, systems biology, bioinformatics, network biology, mathematical modeling, omics data analysis, and translational biomedical research. The post is directed by Anna Niarakis together with Sylvain Soliman.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational/systems biology, quantitative biology, computer science, applied mathematics, or a closely related field; programming experience (Python, R, or similar); solid knowledge of network biology and/or modeling and omics analysis; excellent English; strong motivation; ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team; and knowledge of cellular and molecular biology.

Application: submit applications only via the CNRS platform. Applications sent by email or LinkedIn will not be considered. The post includes a direct application link.
