The project is led by Dr. Danqing Shi and is carried out in close collaboration with the Lund University Graphics Group (LUGG). The research explores human-AI interaction and computational behavior modeling, including how people respond to AI systems through actions such as prompting, rating, editing, gaze behavior, and interaction dynamics.
As a doctoral student, you will collect and analyze multimodal behavioral data, develop computational models of human behavior, design and run controlled user experiments, and build visualization systems for analysis, explanation, and communication of complex behavioral data. The project also involves AI methods such as reinforcement learning and foundation models, plus collaboration with international research partners.
Eligibility highlights: a second-cycle qualification or equivalent; at least 60 second-cycle credits relevant to the topic, or an MSc in one of the listed engineering fields; documented experience in HCI, visualization, eye tracking, reinforcement learning, or agentic engineering; strong English communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred background: eye tracking or behavioral sensing, deep learning/reinforcement learning/foundation models, human-AI interaction/collaboration/alignment, information visualization or visual analytics, and relevant publications or conference contributions.
Funding and employment: full-time doctoral employment for 4 years at Lund University, with extension possible for teaching and other departmental duties. The post is salaried (monthly salary) and includes standard university employment benefits.
