About this position

Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U) in Linz, Austria, is inviting applications for three fully funded PhD positions in the Digital Molecular Medicine research group led by Professor Kristin Reiche. These positions are part of the Computational X Doctoral School, which promotes interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computational sciences, biology, and medicine.

The Digital Molecular Medicine group focuses on digital transformation for precision medicine, with research areas including biomedical data science, medical bioinformatics, research software engineering, and advanced molecular diagnostics. Key topics include machine learning for single-cell multi-omics and spatial cell biology, patient-specific in silico models for risk and pathogenesis prediction, molecular biomarker discovery and validation, and software engineering for medical bioinformatics interoperability.

PhD students will engage in translational research with real clinical relevance, collaborating with clinical partners in immuno-oncology and oncology, as well as international research networks such as the CERTAINTY project. The program offers a comprehensive training curriculum, opportunities for independent research, and the chance to publish and defend a PhD thesis. Students will also benefit from high-quality supervision and world-class research infrastructure.

Applicants should hold a master's degree in a relevant field and demonstrate strong interdisciplinary interest, curiosity, teamwork, and fluent English skills. The position is fully funded for up to four years (30 hours/week), with a competitive salary starting from €3,714.80 per month (full-time, gross, 14 times a year), a free Austria Climate Ticket for public transportation, and complimentary coffee and snacks.

To apply, candidates must submit an application form, CV, diplomas, transcripts, a motivational letter, and references via the official IT:U application portal. The application deadline is April 30, 2026. For more information and to apply, visit the official program page.
