PhD opportunity in Human Movement and Sport Sciences at the University of Rome Foro Italico (42nd cycle, Academic Year 2026/2027), located in Rome, Italy.

The programme covers a broad set of research areas in sport and movement science, including exercise physiology, sports medicine, biochemistry and molecular biology of movement, biology and genetics of movement, endocrinology, bioengineering and neuromechanics, cognitive and action neuroscience, physical exercise adapted to different pathologies, functional assessment and sports performance analysis, psychology and social processes in sport, sports pedagogy and special education, public health, epidemiology and biotechnology, and sports strategy & e-sports management.

Funding includes 8 fully funded positions with university scholarships, 1 funded position on the topic “AI for athlete training and performance analytics: challenges, solutions and practical applications”, and 2 unfunded positions. The programme duration is 3 years.

Eligibility requires a Master’s degree or an equivalent foreign qualification recognized for admission to doctoral studies. Selection is based on academic qualifications, research project evaluation, and an oral examination. International applicants are welcome.

Deadline: 24 August 2026 at 11:59 a.m. Italian time. Evaluation results are expected from 8 September 2026, and oral examinations start on 14 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
