About this position
PhD opportunity at the University of Nottingham focused on improving the lifecycle of complex domestic waste, particularly multilayer materials and mixed-fibre textiles that are currently difficult to recycle. This will involve survey data and textual analysis, making the project interdisciplinary and combining materials science with socio-economic perspectives. The successful candidate may contribute to publications in sustainable materials and circular economy research.
Applicants should be university graduates, or expecting to graduate, with at least a 2.1 (or international equivalent) and/or a masters at merit level or above in a relevant subject such as engineering, physics, or materials science, or a closely related discipline. Interest in economics and/or psychology would be an advantage, and communication skills are important because the project includes direct engagement with relevant parties.
This is a self-funded PhD: students must secure their own funding for tuition fees and living costs, either privately or through an external/government scholarship.
