About this position

PhD opportunity in Integrated Quantum Sensing Systems Based on Optically Pumped Magnetometers for Biomagnetic and Magnetic Imaging Applications at Nanyang Technological University, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Singapore.

This funded PhD project focuses on optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs), quantum sensing, biomagnetic imaging, magnetic imaging, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, instrumentation, data acquisition, and real-time signal processing. The project aims to develop integrated multi-channel OPM sensing systems for ultra-weak magnetic field detection with applications in magnetocardiography, magnetomyography, magnetic source localization, and non-destructive evaluation.

The successful candidate will work on hardware and system-level development, including low-noise analog and mixed-signal electronics, precision current drivers, magnetic field control systems, multi-functional electronic modules, multi-channel synchronization, software control interfaces, visualization, and magnetic field mapping. The project sits at the intersection of quantum technologies, biomedical engineering, and advanced sensing instrumentation.

Applicants should hold or expect to obtain a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong electronics and instrumentation skills, circuit design and lab measurement experience, and programming ability in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or similar languages are important. Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGA-based platforms, signal processing, control systems, or sensor technologies is desirable.

This is a funded PhD project open to students worldwide. The listing states that applications are accepted all year round, so interested candidates can register their interest at any time through the FindAPhD enquiry form.
