About this position

Monash University is advertising a PhD opportunity in health equity, lived experience expertise, implementation science, and social care practice. The project focuses on co-developing, pilot-testing, and evaluating the Lived Experience Expert Network (LEEN) Model, a novel equity-driven system designed to embed lived experience experts authentically into intervention planning, delivery, and evaluation.

The doctoral research is based in the Health and Social Care Unit within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University and is linked to the SEMPRE program and the VILLAGE Network. The work uses the Intervention Mapping-Equity approach and includes a pragmatic scoping review, critical assessment of implementation frameworks such as CFIR through a lived experience lens, co-development of the LEEN model with community members, and mixed-methods evaluation.

Supervision is by Professor Helen Skouteris, Dr Michelle Gooey, and Ms Ahlia Griffiths. The post highlights academic and community-led mentorship, a collaborative research culture, and direct engagement with lived experience and consumer/community involvement.

Eligibility includes at least an Honours degree or equivalent in public health, applied science (such as psychology or health science), allied health, social science, or a related discipline. Applicants should be able to work independently and in a team, commit to full-time PhD candidature, and ideally show understanding of social determinants of health. A strong CV is desirable, with potential eligibility for Monash or external scholarships.

Funding is not described as a fully funded studentship. The page states that top-up scholarship funding is not available, but applicants may be eligible for Monash or external scholarships.

Deadline: applications close on Monday 17 August 2026.

Interested candidates should review the project page, check minimum entry requirements, and submit an application before the deadline.
