About this position

The project is interdisciplinary and combines criminology, psychology, statistics, and data science to study radical online groups, especially those involving adolescents and young adults and driven by chaos and online status rather than a clear ideology.

The role includes mapping literature, identifying and monitoring data sources, analyzing and curating social media data, presenting at conferences, publishing peer-reviewed articles, teaching support, and completing and defending a PhD thesis.

Eligibility highlights: a completed or soon-to-be-completed Research Master in criminology, psychology, data science, or a related field; strong quantitative methods and statistics; interest in extremism, radicalization, and terrorism; willingness to learn mixed methods; and excellent English communication skills.

Funding: full-time PhD employment with a gross monthly salary of €3,059 to €3,881, initially for 1 year with the possibility of extension. The position is scheduled to start by 1 January 2027 at the latest.
