About this position

A PhD position is available in the Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University, USA, in the area of enhanced weathering and river carbon cycling.

The student will work with Dr. Shuang Zhang in the CACEE Lab (CArbon Cycle and Earth Environment) on developing a large-scale river network model to track the downstream fate of carbon and alkalinity generated by terrestrial enhanced weathering.

Research interests include oceanography, Earth science, environmental science, geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, carbon cycling, low-temperature geochemistry, numerical modeling, and data science.

Preferred applicants have a B.S. or M.S. in geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science, oceanography, or a related field. Programming experience in Julia, Python, or R is preferred.

The position starts in Fall 2027 and includes five years of support through an NSF CAREER-funded project.

To apply, send a CV and a brief description of your research interests to Dr. Shuang Zhang at [email protected]. More information is available on the CACEE Lab opportunities page.
