About this position

Dr. Nicki Nimlos, Principal Investigator of The RangeLab at the University of Wyoming, is recruiting a fully funded PhD student for a project on rangeland and livestock monitoring in Wyoming.

The student will develop and lead a monitoring program covering vegetation, soil, grazing, and livestock behavior using traditional and emerging monitoring techniques. The project emphasizes close work with producers and other stakeholders, with room to develop additional research questions. The student will also be expected to meet regularly with Dr. Nimlos, attend seminars and activities, submit research to peer-reviewed journals and Extension bulletins, and present at scientific conferences and stakeholder meetings.

The position is housed in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, and leads to a graduate degree in Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management. The student will begin in summer 2027, be on campus during the academic semester, and spend summers in the field across Wyoming.
