About this position
PhD opportunity in Late Cretaceous ocean temperature reconstruction at the Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra (IACT - CSIC), Spain.
The project focuses on reconstructing Late Cretaceous ocean temperatures using clumped-isotope thermometry applied to coccoliths, benthic foraminifera, and ostracods, and integrating the results with climate-model simulations to estimate global mean surface temperatures.
This is a four-year PhD contract. The post is aimed at candidates with a background in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geochemistry, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience in palaeoclimatology, stable-isotope geochemistry, micropalaeontology, or data analysis will be valued.
Interested applicants should submit a brief statement of interest by 4 September 2026. Shortlisted candidates will then receive additional information about the formal application procedure.
