About this position

DeepLife is offering a full-time PhD position in Development of Deep Learning Methods on Multi-Omics Data to Address Tauopathies, within the European Doctoral Network TAu imMunE (TAME). The project sits at the intersection of computer science, machine learning, systems biology, and neurodegenerative disease research, with a focus on tauopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia.

The successful candidate will work on building a digital model of a neuron affected by tau pathology using proprietary cell-culture and in vivo data together with open-access datasets. The aim is to predict novel biomarkers and therapeutic strategies, contributing to better diagnosis and treatment of tau-related disorders. DeepLife describes itself as a techbio company developing digital twins of human cells to accelerate drug discovery using large-scale multi-omics data, artificial intelligence, and systems biology.

The PhD is a 36-month employment contract hosted by DeepLife in Vernon, France, with a research stay of 12 months at Université de Lille / Inserm / Institut Pasteur de Lille in the Integrative Structural Biology / Alzheimer & Tauopathies – Lille Neuroscience & Cognition environment. The doctoral work will be jointly supervised by DeepLife and Université de Lille, and the student will interact regularly with the wider TAME consortium across Europe.

Eligibility and profile: applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in applied mathematics, machine learning, computer science, or a related field. Strong skills in generative models, large-scale deep learning, software engineering, and data engineering are expected. Experience in systems biology, omics, or single-cell data is considered an advantage. Candidates must have excellent English proficiency and satisfy MSCA mobility and early-career eligibility rules, including not having spent more than 12 months in France during the three years before the start date.

Funding: the position is financed under Horizon Europe / MSCA with EU-standard salary and benefits, including full social benefits, mobility allowance, and family allowance if applicable. The fellowship also includes enrollment in the doctoral school associated with the host institution.
