The doctoral project is titled Probing conformational membrane protein dynamics by time-resolved X-ray solution scattering (TR-XSS). The research combines molecular biology, protein production and purification, laser-triggered caged compounds, synchrotron experiments, and structural analysis to capture changes from milliseconds to seconds.
The position is linked to both Umeå University in Sweden and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in France. The first three years are based at ESRF, followed by one year at Umeå University. The employment is for four years full-time, with possible extension up to five years if teaching or other departmental work is included.
Eligibility: applicants need a second-cycle degree or equivalent, plus at least 90 ECTS credits in chemistry or a directly relevant subject, including at least 15 ECTS credits at second-cycle level in the specialization. Strong English skills are required. The post also follows the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rule, meaning applicants must not have lived or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the three years before the deadline.
