About this position

PhD opening in computational biology with a focus on single-cell biology and neuroimmunology at the Department of Neurology, University Hospital of Münster (Germany).

The project will investigate immune mechanisms at brain borders and in peripheral nerves using single-cell and spatial transcriptomics. The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary and international research environment and is based in the research group of Prof. Dr. Meyer zu Hörste, with supervision by PD Dr. Heming and connection to the Department of Neurology chaired by Prof. Dr. Dr. S. Meuth.

Research interests include patient-derived samples, multi-omics, human neurological diseases, polyneuropathies, and meningeal biology. The group highlights recent work on the single-cell landscape of human polyneuropathies and progenitor B cells in the meninges, and provides access to state-of-the-art single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics platforms.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field. Strong analytical skills, independence, teamwork, responsibility, organisational ability, reliability, flexibility, scientific rigour, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research are expected. Proficiency in R and/or Python is required, and experience with bioinformatics tools, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, molecular biology, and sequencing techniques is advantageous.

Funding: fixed-term 3-year PhD appointment with remuneration according to TV-L E 13 (65%).

Application: submit your application through the career portal using the provided apply link. The post does not state a deadline in the text provided.
