About this position

The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra is offering a PhD position focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as part of marketing communication in the food market. The research will be conducted at the Institute of Marketing, Trade and Social Studies, under the supervision of doc. Ing. Zdenka Kádeková, PhD. The study programme is Agrarian Trade and Marketing, and the dissertation can be written in Slovak or English. The position is full-time and begins on 1 September 2026.

This doctoral project aims to analyze CSR activities in the food market of the Slovak Republic across three dimensions: social, environmental, and economic. The research will evaluate how CSR is applied as a marketing communication tool, identify the channels used by food companies, and assess the impact of these activities on company reputation, trust, and consumer purchasing behavior. The study responds to evolving consumer expectations, the increasing importance of sustainability, transparency, and ethical business practices, as well as regulatory pressures and public scrutiny.

Secondary data sources will include domestic and international professional publications, scientific studies from Web of Science and Scopus, relevant web resources, publicly available documents, and data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic. Primary data will be collected through marketing research. The dissertation will employ selected mathematical and statistical methods to evaluate results. The expected contribution is a practical framework for marketing communication using CSR in the food market, benefiting both companies and customers.

Applicants must have a Master degree or equivalent in Economics or a related field, and demonstrate proficiency in English and Slovak. Strong analytical skills and familiarity with marketing research, mathematical and statistical methods are required. The application deadline is 31 May 2026. For more information, visit the doctoral study information pages or contact the supervisor directly.

To apply, submit your application online via the university portal. Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and review the programme details. For research-related questions, contact doc. Ing. Zdenka Kádeková, PhD at [email protected]. Administrative queries can be directed to [email protected].
