About this position
Linköping University invites applications for a PhD position in distributed sensing, hardware-efficient signal processing, robustness and resilience, and communication-efficient decentralized machine learning. The research projects are focused on applications within 6G mobile access, distributed intelligence and computing, and drone swarms. As a PhD student, you will devote most of your time to doctoral studies and participate in cutting-edge research projects. Teaching or other departmental duties may be included, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
The Division of Communication Systems at Linköping University conducts research and education in communications engineering, statistical signal processing, network science, and decentralized machine learning. Applicants must have graduated at Master’s level in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics, with a minimum of 240 credits and at least 60 credits in advanced courses in Electrical Engineering or Applied Mathematics. Alternatively, candidates may demonstrate equivalent knowledge acquired in another way. Excellent mathematical maturity and programming skills are essential, along with very good English skills, both oral and written. Candidates should be able to work independently, be goal-oriented, possess strong problem-solving skills, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively with others. The degree requirement must be met before the employment contract is signed.
The employment is normally for four years full-time, with possible extension up to five years based on teaching and institutional assignments. Initial employment is for one year, with renewal for a maximum of two years at a time, depending on progress. Starting date is by agreement. Background screening may be carried out before any employment decision is made.
