About this position
PhD position at the Institute of Biophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic, in the DNA Replication & Genome Stability Laboratory led by Dr. Hana Polasek-Sedlackova.
The project, How Cells Scale Genome Duplication During Development and Disease, focuses on fundamental questions in biology, cell biology, developmental biology, genome stability, and DNA replication. The lab studies how mammalian cells dynamically regulate DNA replication initiation across developmental and physiological contexts while preserving genome integrity and understanding how disruption contributes to disease, including cancer.
The successful candidate will join an international English-speaking research environment and will also be enrolled in the PhD programme Animal physiology, immunology and developmental biology at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University.
Training includes CRISPR-based genome engineering, quantitative high-content imaging, live-cell microscopy, AI-assisted image analysis, stem cell biology and differentiation models, functional genomics, and proteomics.
This is a fully funded four-year PhD position with competitive salary and employee benefits, including social security, paid vacation, meal allowance, sports and recreation contributions, and on-site childcare. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, or a related life science field, and have practical laboratory experience in molecular and/or cell biology, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, teamwork and communication skills, and good English proficiency. Experience with microscopy, genome editing, stem cell biology, computational image analysis, genomics, or proteomics is helpful but not required.
