About this position

This PhD position in Infection Biology and Immunology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna offers an exciting opportunity to investigate the role of type I interferons (IFN-I) in tissue homeostasis and immunity to viral and bacterial infections. Using engineered mouse models, candidates will employ advanced techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing, ChIP-seq, multicolour flow cytometry, imaging, and complementary infection and functional assays to reveal the production, cellular response, and disease impact of IFN-I pathways.

The research is embedded within the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, a vibrant environment with groups studying infection, immunity, and cancer. The laboratory provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technologies, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture. The findings from this project are expected to address a major gap in interferon biology and inform strategies for modulating IFN-I pathways in infectious and inflammatory diseases.
