About this position
MedAustron and the Medical University of Vienna’s Radiation Oncology unit are offering a postdoctoral position in pancreatic cancer radiotherapy research in Vienna, Austria.
The project is part of an FWF-funded collaboration with groups at DKFZ in Heidelberg and focuses on how X-ray versus carbon ion irradiation reshapes tumour immunity through endogenous retroviruses and extracellular vesicles. The team works in a non-clinical research setting and is interested in harnessing particle radiation to develop new cancer treatment strategies.
This opportunity is particularly suited to researchers with hands-on experience in orthotopic pancreatic cancer mouse models. Mouse work is essential, and preference will be given to applicants with specific expertise in pancreatic cancer mouse models. Backgrounds in radiobiology, immunology, and extracellular vesicles will strengthen an application.
The appointment is for 2 years with the possibility of extension. It is a full-time role (40 hours per week) with a gross salary of 5,014.30 EUR per month paid 14 times per year under the Medical University of Vienna collective agreement. The position is available from 1 October 2026.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent, have excellent English, strong organisational and communication skills, and be comfortable working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
To apply, send your CV, a detailed description of work experience, a motivation letter, and contact details for at least two references to [email protected]. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, so early submission is advisable.
Institution: Medical University of Vienna. Location: Vienna, Austria.
