TUD Dresden University of Technology / ScaDS.AI Dresden is advertising two full-time Research Associate / PhD Student positions in Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, and related areas such as Graph Machine Learning. The positions are based at the Department for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI Dresden) within the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS).

The role is a research-focused PhD opening with a strong emphasis on foundational and applied AI research. Duties include scientific research, collaboration in national and international projects, possible industrial collaboration, teaching support in seminars, presenting and publishing results in top-tier conferences/journals, co-supervising Bachelor’s/Master’s students, and assisting with proposal writing for research funding.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a diploma or master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Advanced Information Science and Engineering, or a related field. Prior research experience (publications, theses, projects) in the listed AI/NLP areas is a strong advantage. Strong programming skills, preferably with deep learning frameworks, and very good English skills are required.

Funding: the position is financed and remunerated according to E 13 TV-L. The appointment starts on November 1, 2026, lasts for 2 years, and may be extended. Two positions are available.

Location: Dresden, Germany.
