About this position
The University of Liège's GIGA Neurosciences laboratory is offering a fully funded PhD position in neuroendocrinology, focusing on the impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on neurodevelopment and cognitive functions. The successful candidate will join a research group led by Dr. Anneline Pinson and collaborate with other groups headed by Drs. Julie Bakker, Anne-Simone Parent, and Charlotte Cornil. The lab is part of the GIGA Institute, a major biotechnology research center in Belgium, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities and methodologies.
The research project investigates how developmental exposure to EDCs affects key milestones in fetal brain development, potentially leading to neurodevelopmental disorders. The candidate will use advanced techniques such as stereotaxic injections, neuronal tracing, live-imaging, and tissue clearing to analyze the effects of EDCs on GnRH neuronal projections, neocortex development, and cognitive functions.
Applicants should hold a master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Neurosciences, or a related field, with a strong background in neuroendocrinology or neurosciences. Experience with transgenic mouse models, stereotaxic injections, or imaging techniques is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate reliability, motivation, organizational skills, and proficiency in English communication. Prior experience with laboratory animals is a plus.
The fellowship is funded for four years and offers comprehensive training and development opportunities in an innovative research environment. The University of Liège and GIGA Institute are committed to diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from all qualified candidates.
To apply, candidates should send a CV and motivation letter, including at least two contacts for recommendation letters, to Dr. Anneline Pinson at [email protected]. Informal inquiries are welcome. The application deadline is August 1, 2026.
