About this position
INMA (Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón), a joint CSIC–Universidad de Zaragoza research institute in Spain, is advertising an open PhD position in Quantum Technologies, Surface Science, and Materials Science.
The PhD project, Emergent Quantum Phenomena in 2D-Organic Systems, focuses on organic nano-architectures on 2D insulating substrates and aims to improve quantum coherence through atomic-scale control. The student will work with advanced experimental methods including scanning probe microscopy, photoemission spectroscopy, and UHV techniques, with access to the Laboratorio de Microscopías Avanzadas (LMA) and synchrotron facilities.
This is a 4-year predoctoral contract with a gross salary of approximately €31,000/year. The post is aimed at candidates with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field. Strong English communication skills are required, and prior experience with UHV, STM-AFM, TEM, low-temperature techniques, or scientific software is considered an advantage.
