About this position
PhD opening at CNRS in Toulouse, France on social bonds, inter-brain synchrony, ageing, neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, signal processing, EEG, ECG, and fNIRS.
The project, LINK-AGE, investigates how ageing affects inter-brain synchrony during social interaction and how this synchrony relates to the quality of the social bond between partners. The work combines dyadic motor coordination tasks, simultaneous neurophysiological recordings, behavioural measures, and machine-learning analysis of brain resilience markers.
The PhD candidate will work primarily at the CLLE laboratory (Université Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès), in collaboration with IRIT (Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier) and CERPPS. Experimental work will take place on the PACOMP platform at the Maison de la Recherche, and the student will be affiliated with the CLESCO Doctoral School.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing experiments, recruiting participants, collecting EEG/ECG/fNIRS and motor data, monitoring data quality, processing and analysing data with the team, interpreting results, and contributing to papers, conferences, seminars, and public science communication.
Eligibility highlights: Master’s-level training in cognitive science or related area, EEG/neurophysiology experience, R and Python programming, statistical analysis skills, familiarity with movement science, and good scientific English. Basic French is required; experience with older adults and cognitive neuroscience labs is desirable.
Deadline: 2026-10-09. Apply via: CNRS job portal / Euraxess link.
